"Website ka kitna lagega?"
It is the first question every business owner in Jamshedpur asks, and it is the one question this industry refuses to answer straight. You get "depends on requirement, sir" — and then a quote lands somewhere between 5,000 and 5,00,000 with no explanation of the gap.
That vagueness is not an accident. It exists because when you cannot compare, you cannot negotiate.
So here is our actual pricing, the market's actual pricing, and the maths behind both.
The real price bands in this market
These are the bands we see quoted around Jamshedpur, Sakchi, Bistupur and Adityapur — including our own rates, which are published on our pricing page and not invented for this article.
| What you are buying | Realistic range | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Static site, 1–5 pages | ₹10,000 – ₹25,000 | Shops, clinics, small service businesses |
| Dynamic site / CMS you can edit yourself | ₹25,000 – ₹75,000 | Schools, institutes, businesses that post updates |
| E-commerce store | ₹50,000 – ₹2,00,000 | Anyone actually taking online orders |
| Custom web application | ₹75,000 – ₹3,00,000 | Portals, dashboards, booking systems |
If a quote you have received sits far outside these bands in either direction, ask why. There may be a good reason. There may not be.
What actually moves the price
The number is not mystical. Four things drive it:
- Page count and unique layouts. Ten pages that share one template is a small job. Five pages that each look different is a bigger one.
- Who writes the content. If you hand over text and photos, you save real money. If we write copy and arrange photography, that is work, and it gets billed.
- Whether you need to edit it yourself. A CMS costs more upfront and saves you every month after. If you update content twice a year, you do not need one.
- Integrations. Payments, WhatsApp, booking, CRM, live inventory. Each one is a system that can break, so each one carries cost.
Notice what is not on that list: how big the agency is, how nice their office is, or how urgently they want to close you this month.
The costs most quotes leave out
This is where people get hurt. The build price is not the yearly price. Budget for these before you sign anything:
| Recurring cost | Typical per year |
|---|---|
| Domain (.in or .com) | ₹800 – ₹1,500 |
| Shared hosting | ₹2,000 – ₹5,000 |
| SSL certificate | ₹0 — this should be free, do not pay for it |
| Maintenance / updates | ₹2,000 – ₹10,000 per month, only if you need it |
Two rules that will save you money:
- You should own the domain and hosting account. In your name, on your email, with your password. If your developer holds them and you fall out, your website is a hostage. We have watched this happen to businesses in this city more than once.
- Nobody should charge you for SSL. The little padlock in the browser is free via Let's Encrypt. A line item for it is a test of whether you are paying attention.
About that ₹5,000 website
You have seen the ads. Sometimes ₹5,000 is a perfectly honest price for a perfectly honest thing: a one-page site on a template. If that is genuinely all you need, take it and spend the savings on inventory.
But know what you are usually getting at that price:
- A template thousands of others use, unchanged
- No one thinking about whether it loads on a patchy 4G connection in Sakchi
- No SEO work beyond a plugin being switched on
- Renewal and edit charges that appear later
Cheap is not the problem. Cheap sold as something else is the problem.
When you should not pay us — or anyone
We would rather tell you this now than take your money and watch you regret it.
Skip the website for now if:
- You do not have a Google Business Profile yet. It is free, it takes an afternoon, and for a local shop it will out-earn a website in the first six months. Do that first. Genuinely.
- Every single order already comes through WhatsApp and you are at capacity. Fix capacity, not marketing.
- You cannot name what you want the site to do. "Everyone has one" is not a goal, and it is the single most expensive reason to buy a website.
A website is a tool for a job. If you cannot name the job, no amount of money makes it work.
So what should you actually budget?
For most small businesses in Jamshedpur: ₹15,000 to ₹30,000 for the build, plus about ₹5,000 a year to keep it alive. That is the honest centre of the market. Anything much less, look closely at what is missing. Anything much more, make them justify it line by line.
And if a quote you have been given does not make sense — send it to us. We will tell you if it is fair, even when it is not ours.
Want a straight number for your business? Tell us what you need and we will give you a written quote with the recurring costs included, not buried.
